Tyson McKinney

Tyson was born in Colorado Springs, CO, but grew up in Austin from the age of seven. He studied Mechanical Engineering and Geology at The University of Texas at Austin before earning a Master’s in Earth Science at The University of California, Santa Barbara. Tyson has worked as a regulator of the oil and gas industry for the State of California, as a high school chemistry and physics teacher here in Austin, and as a hydrogeologic researcher at the University of Texas Bureau of Economic Geology. He is currently employed as an Environmental Scientist for the City of Austin Watershed Protection Department. In his free time, Tyson can usually be found outside, hiking, camping, riding his bike, playing sports, paddleboarding, birding, or just breathing in fresh air.
