Jewel Quaethem

Conservation Ranger

Jewel Quaethem’s interest in the environment first took root in high school, when an Environmental Science class opened her eyes to the connections between people, policy, and the natural world- one which she hadn’t explored much before. What began as curiosity soon grew into a passion that led her to the University of Texas at Austin, where she graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a B.A. in Sustainability Studies, Sociology, and Geography. Her passion lies in understanding how people connect with the environment, and finding practical ways to make our communities more sustainable.

Jewel started with Westcave in November of 2024 working with the conservation team as an intern.  She enjoys helping tell Westcave’s story and supporting the mission to connect people with nature. Outside of Westcave, Jewel enjoys spending time exploring new places around Austin, singing karaoke, and reading books.
