JERED DAVENPORT

Conservation Specialist

Jered has been a part of Westcave since June of 2020 taking on different roles throughout the preserve before settling in as Conservation Specialist. Ambitious to learn everything, he has been involved in research projects from the invertebrates in our water to the stars in our sky in order to better understand how we can mitigate the negative interactions between us and the natural world.

He is currently a graduate research assistant at Texas State University as a master's student, researching the spatiotemporal variations in diversity, food webs, and food chain lengths in a river that naturally dries. He also graduated with his Bachelor of Science degree from Concordia University Texas, gaining a basic understanding of the flora and fauna of the terrestrial systems in the Texas Hill Country before vastly expanding it during his time at Westcave.
