The Westcave Preserve Nature Explorers' Treasure Chest emphasizes the ecology of Central Texas, encouraging students to become observant of nature and to learn about their own natural environment. It is an excellent pre- and post-visitation tool for classes planning a trip to Westcave. Natural objects from Westcave Preserve, a Westcave Preserve video tape, animal photographs, relevant boks, activities, student worksheets and a list of Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) addressed in each section are included. The Nature Explorers' Treasure Chest may be used independently from our on-site program but is an excellent pre- and post-visitation tool for classes taking a field trip to Westcave Preserve. The Nature Explorers' Treasure Chest is available through the Austin Independent School District Science and Health Resource Center (512-414-4552) and Westcave Preserve (830-825-3442).
